Filing Deadline Changes
- The payments of income taxes are postponed with no penalties and interest for late payment of taxes under $1,000,000 for 90 days until July 15th. This includes estimated tax payments for the tax year 2020 that would normally be due on April 15th. The consequence of this is that you do not have to pay taxes until July 15th and penalties and interest will not begin to accrue until July 16th.
- No action was taken by the Treasury Department with respect to entity tax returns that were due March 16th and upcoming on March 31st.
State filing and payment deadlines vary and are not always the same as the federal filing deadline. The California Franchise Tax Board is also postponing until July 15th the filing and payment deadlines for all individuals and business entities for:
- 2019 Tax returns
- 2019 Tax return payments
- 2020 1st and 2nd quarter estimate payments normally due 4/15 and 6/15
- 2020 LLC taxes and fees
- 2020 Non-wage withholding payments
WHH Office and Staff Access During Coronavirus
Based on the current shelter-in-place mandate in California, our office has equipped most of our employees to work remotely, with only essential staff in the office to be accessible for client deliveries and exchanges, route phone calls, and schedule meetings or teleconferences. We have implemented enhanced cleaning measures for our office for the protection of our employees and clients in accordance with the current guidelines put out by the CDC and other health agencies. If you wish to meet with us, we ask that you call and schedule an appointment. If desired, we can coordinate teleconference meetings through the GoToMeeting platform, which can be initiated seamlessly by sharing a secure email link to any scheduled meeting.
Our Firm is very well equipped to operate from outside of our office with the necessary equipment, allowing our workforce to work remotely in compliance with our Disaster Recovery Plan and other policies. We remain committed to maintaining our Firm’s quality control standards.
Our top priorities are the health and safety of our employees and clients. We will continue to monitor guidance from health experts and government recommendations and will do our very best to maintain the quality and timeliness of our services to you. We appreciate your flexibility and support during this time, and our thoughts remain with everyone affected by the COVID-19 crisis.
We will continue to keep all of our clients updated as this is a fluid situation moving forward.
Sincerely,
